FRINGE:

What initially began as a visual representation of the fourth dimension shown through a woven line became a cotton chain.  Added to this chain, this linking of events and moments, is a marking fringe.  Nearly every link is connected to a strand of fringe.  Every moment is represented.

The piece became about looking a moment right in the face while simultaneously looking at every other moment that has happened.  Because when an instant is viewed in this way it becomes obsolete and part of a larger whole losing its magnitude.  Through hanging the fringe at eye level in rows across the space this is what happens.  There is no way around the piece except to duck below it.  The impact is unavoidable.   There is a desire to touch and to hold on to the piece which emerges in a manner similar to wanting to capture and remember a moment for as long as possible.  Life becomes the focus in an abstract way.

Weights have been added to some strands.  Some memories are heavier than others, some moments define things differently.  Through seeing the collective moments it becomes easier to see those which have the most significance.
